Meet Anup, a Full Stack Engineer who went from academia to agile development and never looked back

For some, a career in tech is a straight line. For others, it’s a journey of discovery, filled with learning, growth, and unexpected turns along the way.

Zefort’s Full Stack Engineer, Anup, started his professional path far from the world of software development. Originally from Nepal, he moved to Finland to pursue a career in academia, earning a master’s degree in Astronomy and delving deeply into PhD research. But after several years in the field, it was time for a change.

That’s when he rediscovered an old passion: programming.

“Soon after I built my first application, I decided to focus the rest of my professional life on software development. I have never looked back or regretted my decision since,” he shares.

That decision eventually led to Zefort and Anup’s first major project as part of the development team.

From idea to impact

One of the most exciting moments in a developer’s journey is seeing your work in the hands of real users, especially when it’s your first big project in a new role.

For Anup, that moment came just months after joining Zefort.

“I was a part of developing Zefort’s document automation feature for our application, and I was responsible for the backend part of the project,” he shares. 

“The journey was exciting because we started with an idea and then developed a long-awaited feature, overcoming all the issues along the way.”

The goal was to enable users to automate document creation, making contract management more efficient right from the start. The feature is now live and in active use by Zefort customers.

“In addition to being proud of the various improvements I’ve made in the software, I’m also happy about my contribution to the successful delivery of the new automation feature,” he says.

Growing through code

Before joining Zefort, Anup had already established a solid foundation in software development, and now he has been able to take his skills to the next level.

“At Zefort, the priority is always writing good code and following best practices in software development rather than speed. That experience has helped me grow my skills,” he explains.
