Accessibility Statement
Zefort is committed to making its service accessible, in accordance with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services (306/2019) and the European Accessibility Act (EAA). This accessibility statement applies to the zefort.fi website.
Accessibility Status
The service is partially compliant with the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA. Non-compliance with the requirements and exceptions to the requirements are listed below.
Non-accessible content
Zefort is actively working to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA and the technical requirements of EN 301 549, as referenced in the European Accessibility Act (EAA). The content listed below is based on an internal accessibility audit conducted in July 2025. Additional parts of the service will be audited during autumn 2025.
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason: Non-compliance with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services (306/2019).
Zefort Sign
- Interactive buttons lack accessible names: Screen readers announce some buttons only as “button,” without context. For example, Zoom In and Zoom Out buttons use identical labels. (WCAG 4.1.2)
- Heading structure is not logical: Incorrect heading levels disrupt the content hierarchy, making navigation harder for screen reader users. (WCAG 1.3.1)
- Dialogs lack programmatically associated names: Dialogs do not provide accessible labels, reducing clarity for assistive technology users. (WCAG 4.1.2)
- Focus management: Focus does not land on key instructions in the main content, skipping important guidance when signing a contract. (WCAG 2.4.7, 4.1.2)
- Missing skip link: There is no “Skip to main content” option to bypass navigation using the keyboard. (WCAG 2.4.1)
- Unclear date formatting: Dates are shown in a numerical format (e.g. 21.07.2025), which screen readers interpret awkwardly. Natural language or aria-labels should be used. (WCAG 3.1.5, 4.1.2)
- Help text not announced: Help text under input fields is not read by screen readers. It should be linked with aria-describedby. (WCAG 3.3.2, 4.1.2)
- Low color contrast in signature process: Colors used for “Approved” text and icons do not meet contrast requirements. (WCAG 1.4.3)
- Improper definition list structure: lists are not properly defined which prevents screen readers from interpreting them correctly. (WCAG 1.3.1)
- Short SMS authentication timeout: The time to enter an SMS code (approx. 1 minute) may be too short for users relying on assistive technology. (WCAG 2.2.1)
Documents
- PDFs on the platform are not fully accessible within Zefort. Users must download them and use their device’s screen reader, which may not offer a smooth experience or equal access.
Other issues
- In Zefort’s website, navigation is labeled as “list” instead of “navigation”: Providing a more descriptive label helps screen reader users understand page structure. (WCAG 4.1.2)
- In Zefort's website language button lacks proper labeling: The button is announced as “EN, EN, FI, SE” without context. Descriptive ARIA labels and full language names should be used. (WCAG 4.1.2)
- In support articles there is low contrast on buttons and links: Some buttons and links have insufficient contrast, which can hinder readability. (WCAG 1.4.3)
